Project Description:
The Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) is a permanent source of funding provided up front, twice-a-year, to provinces and territories, who in turn flow this funding to their municipalities to support local infrastructure priorities.
The Canada Community-Building Fund delivers over $2 billion every year to 3600 communities across the country. In recent years the funding has supported approximately 4000 projects each year. Communities select how best to direct the funds with the flexibility to make strategic investments across the following 19 different project categories:
public transit
wastewater infrastructure
drinking water
solid waste management
community energy systems
local roads and bridges
capacity building
highways
local and regional airports
short-line rail
short-sea shipping
disaster mitigation
broadband and connectivity
brownfield redevelopment
culture
tourism
sport
recreation
fire halls
Background:
The City of Port Colborne would like to thank the federal government of Canada for their support in funding the following projects with the Canada Community-Building Fund:
1. Vale Health and Wellness Centre Compressor
An inspection of the Vale Health and Wellness Centre's heating and cooling system revealed that the cooling tower and heat exchange gaskets were in poor condition and need replacing. The heating and cooling system is crucial to the facility's operations, and a failure could significantly affect the facilities.

City Funding: $0.00
Canada Community-Building Fund: $317,951.00
2. H.H. Knoll Trail Expansion and Enhancement
This project included a realignment to H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park’s (the park) internal trail system, removal of the central gazebo, and relocation of select trees and benches within the central area of the park to provide a greater open space area, increase accessibility, and provide an overall better user experience.

Total Project Spend: $102,931.00
City Funding: $34,931.00
Canada Community-Building Fund: $68,000.00
3. Vale Health and Wellness Centre Pool Refurbishment
Inspection of the public pool at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre identified that the tile and the grout in the pool was in need of repair.

Total Project Spend: $50,422.00
City Funding: $6,422.00
Canada Community-Building Fund: $44,000.00
4. Playground Replacement Victoria Playground
The structures at Victoria Playground were inspected and recommended for replacement based on the equipment's condition and life expectancy.
